The Duck is an amphibious (land/water) vehicle with six driving wheels, a steel hull and the capacity to carry 25 people on land or 50 people while afloat and 5,000-pounds of general cargo. The Duck's land motor is located in the front and operates in water by means of a pusher/propeller located at the rear.

Note: On this tour the Ducks carry a maximum of 21 people.

Squeeze through Red Bird Gorge
Nature carved out some pretty cool rocks in the Dells thousands of years ago. On a Duck, you will get to see some of them up close - real close! As the 7.5-ton Duck slowly squeezes through Red Bird Gorge, with only a few inches on either side, passengers should keep hands, purses and any small children tucked inside so they don't become part of the scenery too! Shady gorges and thick wooded trails exclusive to Ducks tours are a welcome relief on a warm summer day. Breathe in the fresh air, as our tour winds through the quiet side of Wisconsin Dells.

Splashdown into Spectacular Scenery
Water-related mechanics are engaged. The path is clear. Okay, should we go in slow or FAST?

You guessed it. It is time for a splashdown, that point in our tour when you get to see exactly what these Ducks are made of as they make their water entry. One minute we are driving along on land and the next we are in the water. Our one-hour tour has two splashdowns: one into the scenic Wisconsin River, the other into beautiful Lake Delton. It's a highlight of the tour that gives you a burst of exhilaration and keeps you wanting more.

Cruise on Water
After an exciting plunge, the Duck now cruises the Wisconsin River. Here you will see the spectacular sandstone cliffs that travelers to Wisconsin Dells have marveled at for more than 150 years. Formed quickly by rushing floodwaters from a glacial lake thousands of years ago, this unique region was named the "dalles" by French Canadian fur traders, meaning slab or tile-like rock.

As you cruise along, you will be amazed at the unique rock formations. You will hear the Native American legends and sometimes tall tales of how they were named, all the while pondering...I wonder if the wheels on this Duck keep turning underwater?

Traverse the Toughest Terrain
Time to haul this 7.5-ton vessel back onto shore. Who needs a boat ramp. We just drive the lumbering craft over the rocky sandbar and back on to dry land. The versatility of these Ducks is what made them so popular during World War II. They could traverse almost any surface simply by changing the Duck's tire pressure right from the driver's seat. When you experience a Duck in action, you'll see why military leaders praised them.
